Why IV Nutrition?
Because we generally don’t get all the vitamins and minerals we need from the food we eat today, it is important to supplement our bodies with these nutrients from other sources such as oral medications and infusions.
Though oral medications are a good source of vitamins and other nutrients you need for good health and energy, they can take longer to improve nutrient levels in your body than a direct infusion. That’s why IV therapy from OptiVein is a great option for fast and reliable treatment.
Our IV Infusions at OptiVein can help improve a number of conditions related to low levels of important vitamins, minerals and amino acids in your body. If you are feeling fatigued or are suffering from burnout, experience migraines and travel often, IV therapy might be right for you. Depending on your specific needs, you can choose from a wide range of infusion options at OptiVein to help you feel like yourself again.
OptiVein’s IV Infusions include:
Add a foot or head massage on whilst you have your IV. We have a certified massage therapist on site who can help you relax during your treatment.
Super Immune Infusion
Our Super Immune Infusion Series is made up of four drips and works to optimise all the cells in your body so that they function at their maximum. This enables each cell to be in tip top condition from fighting infection and health. It also ensure your body does not become depleted of antioxidants in current times when oxidative stress can be high.
- The first drip contains the potent antioxidant glutathione and is infused as a single agent for safety and effect.
- The second IV contains the unique OptiVein mix, which includes water-soluble vitamins and antioxidants.
These are only administered after we check your blood levels and other vital signs. This IV also includes nine minerals and trace elements which are easily depleted in stress, dieting females, the elderly and intense exercise. It also includes ALA which is a very strong ant-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. - The third drip in OptiVein’s Super Immune Infusion series contains 15 core amino acids that help your body build and nourish cells for optimised energy levels. These are essential and conditionally essential amino acids that the body may not be making adequately if micronutrient deficiency is present.
What these ingredients do:
Vitamin BCOVitamin BCO, or vitamin B complex, is made up of a number of important vitamins that are essential for the overall healthy function of our bodies. It includes thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (6), biotin (B7), folic acid (B9) and cobalamin (12). These vitamins help our bodies turn food into energy.
MagnesiumOne of the most abundant minerals in our bodies is magnesium, which is essential for bone strength, nerve function and a healthy immune system. It also helps regulate our heartbeat and is important for DNA replication and protein production. Magnesium can help us manage stress, anxiety and hypertension. It may also help treat diabetes and migraines too. The mineral can be found in many foods such as almonds and spinach, however, it can also be taken as a supplement to improve bodily functions.
Vitamin CVitamin C is vital for a healthy body. The nutrient, also known as ascorbic acid, helps protect the cells in our bodies and supports the production of collagen, which helps wounds heal. Though vitamin C can be found in many foods like citrus fruit and vegetables, it cannot be produced by or stored in our bodies. The nutrient, however, can be absorbed by the body as a dietary supplement for a much-needed energy boost.
GlutathioneGlutathione is an antioxidant naturally produced by our bodies to help protect our cells from damage. It is essential for a healthy immune system as it works to build tissue and repair damaged cells in the body. Its production can be reduced in times of stress and anxiety. When given intravenously, glutathione can reduce the oxidative stress levels in our bodies. The antioxidant is also known to help manage diseases like asthma, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease and depression.
ZincZinc is a trace mineral that plays a role in your skin, eye and heart health. The nutrient also has antioxidant qualities and is important for healthy immune function. Though zinc is found in our bodies naturally, supplements are often used to treat acne and stabiles blood sugar levels too. As an antioxidant, zinc can reduce inflammation in your body to help boost your immune system.
ManganeseManganese is a trace mineral that is important for the healthy functioning of many systems in your body. Though it is found in small amounts in your body, you also need to include this nutrient in the food you eat. Manganese can be found in tea, nuts, beans and leafy green vegetables but can be given intravenously or as an oral supplement. The nutrient is known to help improve bone health, regulate blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation and help keep the immune system healthy.
CopperCopper is a mineral that supports wound healing and healthy blood vessels in the body. It also aids in the formation of red blood cells and assists with the absorption of iron in your body too. The nutrient is stored in your bones and muscles and, if you are copper deficient, you can suffer from anaemia or have a weakened immune system susceptible to injury and infection. You can get copper from meat, grain and seafood products, or you can take copper supplements orally or intravenously to keep your body healthy and strong.
ChromiumChromium, or trivalent chromium, is a trace element that is essential for good overall health. While you can get chromium from fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat, you can also take it as a supplement if you are chromium deficient. Research shows that chromium can improve your blood sugar levels and lower your cholesterol too.
The Iron Man Infusion Series
Being a physically active person or an athlete can take its toll on your body because you constantly sweat and exert yourself during training. The strain you put on your body during extensive workout routines can leave you with lower levels of important micronutrients, especially if you do not balance your exercise with nutritional food.
This can leave you feeling physically and mentally exhausted and ultimately affects your overall health. The Iron Man Infusion Series at OptiVein is ideal if you are an active person who wants to keep yourself energised, stress-free and motivated to do your best.
The Iron Man IV
Our Iron Man Infusion Series is made up of four drips and works to optimise all the cells in your body so that they function at their maximum. This helps you maintain peak performance levels while keeping healthy too.
- The first drip contains the potent antioxidant glutathione and is infused as a single agent for safety and effect.
- The second IV contains the unique OptiVein unique mix, which includes water-soluble vitamins and antioxidants. These are only administered after we check your blood levels and other vital signs. This IV also includes nine minerals and trace elements which are easily depleted in stress, dieting females, the elderly and intense exercise. It also includes ALA which is a very strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory.
- The third drip in OptiVein’s Super Immune Infusion series contains 15 core amino acids that help your body build and nourish cells for optimised energy levels. These are essential and conditionally essential amino acids that the body may not be making adequately if micronutrient deficiency is present.
- The fourth drip which is given a week prior to a race, produces maximum energy for peak performance by enhancing cellular nutrients that are already produced by the cells of the body. This drip ensures you maintain high levels of energy for endurance training.
It is important to note that fat-soluble vitamins and minerals are not included in the Iron Man Infusion Series because they can reach toxic levels in excess. Should they be required, however, you can take our specially formulated oral tablets. OptiVein also provides programme advice on physical training too.
What these ingredients do
OptiVein MixThis is OptiVein’s specially formulated variety of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and trace elements that work to optimise cell health and functioning.
Amino AcidsAmino acids are the building blocks of life, and your body uses 23 of these acids, connected in different patterns, to build protein molecules important for healthy bodily functions. Amino acids are used to build muscle, skin and collagen along with enzymes and hormones. Amino acids are also involved in making substances that affect your mood like serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline.
D-RiboseD-Ribose is a very important sugar molecule and a component of your cells’ main energy source, the organic compound ATP. D-ribose can help recover stores of ATP in muscle cells and improve your energy levels. The sugar is a powerful heart-energising glyconutrient and assists with the management of fatigue-related conditions. D-Ribose is a useful sugar for enhancing athletic performance and muscle strength.
NADHThe coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) powers metabolic processes and therefore affects your digestion, cognition, mental state and overall energy levels. NADH includes hydrogen and helps to regulate your mood and stress levels. The substance is also involved in producing energy and therefore helps treat fatigue. In some cases, NADH is also used to treat high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s.
NACN-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is part of the L-cysteine amino acid and helps replenish the antioxidant glutathione in your cells. NAC helps relieve oxidative stress in your body caused by free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS). A poor diet and overexertion can drain your NAC reserves, so it can be a useful supplement. NAC is also used to treat insulin resistance and can boost your immune function.
The Collagen Drip Infusion
Collagen is an important protein produced by your body that ensures you have healthy skin and connective tissues. As you age, collagen production slows down, and this ultimately leaves you with weaker connective tissue and reduced elasticity in your skin. When this happens, your joints become weak, and your skin is more susceptible to scarring and wrinkles.
Collagen supplements, however, can help supply your body with the protein to ensure you stay fit and have healthy skin. However, is collagen absorbed from oral supplements? Most unlikely not as collagen but rather amino acids.
Collagen is a long protein and the stomach has enzymes within it specifically for breaking down proteins. These are further broken down in the gut to the smallest form of amino acids and then absorbed into the blood stream and then taken to cells.
By giving the ingredients that make up collagen intravenously, one is bypassing this entire system of breaking it down, ensuring 100% of the ingredients get absorbed, and delivering them directly to the cells.
What these ingredients do
L-Proline
L-Proline, or proline, is a non-essential amino acid that is important for the formation of collagen in your body. The amino acid helps ensure that your tissues, joints, ligaments and skin stay strong and healthy. Proline is considered non-essential because your body can biosynthesise, or create, proline from other amino acids in your body. As a supplement, proline can be used to boost collagen production, strengthening ligaments, tissue and skin.
L-Lysine
L-Lysine, or lysine, is an essential amino acid that you usually get from the food you eat. The amino acid is important for muscle growth but can also help boost your collagen production too. Lysine can be found in foods such as meat, cheese and eggs. You can also take lysine as a supplement to maintain healthy skin and connective tissues.
Manganese
Manganese is a trace mineral that is important for the healthy functioning of many systems in your body. Though it is found in small amounts in your body, you also need to include this nutrient in the food you eat. Manganese can be found in tea, nuts, beans and leafy green vegetables but can be given intravenously or as an oral supplement. Though vitamin C can be found in many foods like citrus fruit and vegetables, it cannot be produced by or stored in our bodies. The nutrient, however, can be absorbed by the body as a dietary supplement for a much-needed energy boost.

Glutathione is an antioxidant naturally produced by our bodies to help protect our cells from damage.
The Collagen IV at OptiVein
Our collagen IV was formulated to give your body the key ingredients it needs to form both collagen and elastin. The IV includes amino acids, vitamins and minerals that all work together to help give your collagen production a healthy boost.
These nutrients are also important for building new skin and protecting your existing skin. While OptiVein’s Collagen Drip aims to leave your skin with a rejuvenated glow, it can also alleviate joint pain, strengthen cartilage and improve the health of your hair and nails too.
NAC reserves, so it can be a useful supplement. NAC is also used to treat insulin resistance and can boost your immune function.
You may also request a custom IV where you have specific concerns or want something more limited & directed. We will ask about specific symptoms and design one specially for you. Such enquiries have included antiinflammatory IV’s, booster IV, fatigue and sports general endurance. There is so much variety, we can tailor make these to suits your specific needs.
Heart Assessments and Programme
People often “suddenly” have a heart attack, but it was never really sudden if one looks at all the lifestyle elements and the pattern of change. It always seems a sudden and a scary event when a person has a heart attack, however, when one actually evaluates all the risks, it is clear that the risks have been there all the time and escalating for years. Cardiovascular disease is known as “The Silent Killer”, for exactly that reason. The Healthy Heart Assessment is aimed at every individual who is interested in objectively knowing their current cardiovascular risk and how this impacts for future risk of heart attack and stroke. The assessment will also give one their heart age, and what changes should be made to improve this risk and age.
This assessment and design is unique and there is nowhere else locally that will combine these scoring systems. Additionally, specialised software will be used by a trained technologist to scan inside the blood vessels to the neck. After evaluating a person’s cardiovascular risk from all angles the patient will receive a personalised report as well as information and advice on necessary medical and lifestyle management such as their Optimise evaluation or programme, which will also be provided according to clients’ results.
What is the OptiHealth Assessment?
This is a programme created to make one aware of what their current heart age is, what their risk of heart attack and stroke is and where the areas are that can be altered to improve this risk. In addition, it checks one is up to date with cancer screening of cancers that can be detected early.
The Aim of the OptiHealth Assessment?
The aim is to make one SELF AWARE of risk and implement medical and lifestyle changes to alter this risk. Prevention is better than cure as there is no cure once plaque has developed – we only try and manage complications thereof with medication, surgery and stents.
For medical parameters that are suboptimal, one is advised to take the report back to their GP. The report has what your goals (such as Blood Pressure levels) should be and these can be optimised.
If cancer screening is not up to date, advice on when to do it and whom to see is also undertaken.
What is different about this?
This is an intense assessment and the design is unique. There is nowhere else that will combine all the risk profiling done in the assessment.
Additionally, and importantly, it is individual and suited to you. After evaluating your cardiovascular risk from all angles, using up to date technology, the OptiVein Team will then give you your own comprehensive, personalised report.
Additional information and advice on lifestyle management will also be provided according to your results. It is you choosing to Optimise your health for life! There is no better way to manage your health, than you taking control.

Blood Tests
Blood tests are done that look at risk factors for cardiovascular disease. These relate to lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc) and diabetes. More specific tests can be done as well. looking at cholesterol in isolation is not good enough, one needs to calculate ratios of a lipid profile to see cardiovascular risk and if one’s type of cholesterol is dangerous or not. Merely stating that one has high cholesterol does not give enough relevant information on the risk or cardiovascular status of a person.
Body Parameters
Body mass index, abdominal circumference, blood pressure in both upper arms are taken.
Medical Consultation
An in-depth medical consultation with a qualified medical doctor focusing on your history, physical examination and further investigations if needed.
Ankle Brachial Pressure Index Tests
This is a ratio between the pressures in the arms and legs. It detects undiagnosed vascular disease and will confirm not only the presence, but also indicate the severity of vascular disease. The ratio also correlates with Framingham risk and mortality. The following bodies recommend screening.
- American College of Cardiology
- American Heart Association
- TransAtlantic Society Guidelines
Scanning of Arteries: Carotid Intimo-Medial Thickness
Carotid Intima-Media thickness (cIMT) measures the major arteries that supply the brain looking for thickening in arterial walls, as this may be the start of arterial blockages. cIMT detects subclinical disease and is an indicator of future heart attack, stroke and vascular death. Traditional medical risk factors of vascular disease only account for half of cardiovascular disease.
People with subclinical disease, detected by CIMT are at greater risk for heart attack and stroke than those without subclinical disease. Using the scan identifies double the number of people with cardiovascular risk than conventional tests do. The Cardiovascular Heath Study, the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities study and The Rotterdam study has shown the proportional relationship between cIMT thickness and cardiovascular disease.
Importantly, reduction of cIMT thickness can be used in research. Special software for accurate measurements is required for using cIMT and noting regression.
Stress Assessment
A stress questionnaire is completed that is sent to a psychologist for a written report to understand whether you are stressed, to what degree and whether it is “tired” or a “wired” type of stress.
Early Cancer Check
Some cancers are curable if detected early. There are certain ages and time periods testing should be done.
OptiVein checks you are up do date with your checks for your age.
Detoxification and De-Stress
- Stress is meant to be short-lived and healthy for us, a “flight or fight” response at a dangerous time or at a time of fear. However, in our current fast paced lives, it has become chronic and this is proven to lead to accelerated ageing, weight gain reduced memory and increased cardiovascular disease.
- Stress also influences how our cells function with resultant increase in oxidative stress which leads to chronic inflammation and disease.
- At OptiVein we aim to get you to understand whether you are stressed, what type of stress you have and how you can decrease this in your current lifestyle. We also aim to increase movement in the body to get the lymph to move. We offer services to assess stress, to detoxify you, move lymph and relax.
Services we offer:
Cell Level - Detox & De-Stress
At the cell level, all waste and toxins need to be moved away and ultimately taken to de-toxifying organs such as the kidneys and liver. However, in order to get to these organs the lymph moves all toxins around each cell. Lymph can only move if the body is moving – lymph mainly moves when our blood vessels pump, when we are breathing properly and when our muscles contract. Sometimes if there has been leg swelling or we have not been moving properly the lymph doesn’t drain well from the legs.
The Lymphatic Machine will “kick start” your lymphatics to drive lymph in the legs.
Concomitantly, we have an on-site Certified Massage Therapist, Nomatter. She specialises in head, hand, body and foot massage. The benefits of having a massage may promote muscular relaxation, mental rejuvenation, improvement of blood flow and thus the detoxification of overloaded cells. It is a simple time-out from a busy and demanding lifestyle that one leads, and will highly improve your sense of wellbeing.
Massage (applicable treatments) may be done whilst on the machine.
Am I Chronically Stressed or Tired?
We understand that the contribution of stress to disease is often under-appreciated. Thus, at OptiVein we assess one’s current state of stress by undergoing a stress test. This stress test is sent to a Psychologist who evaluates it further and sends you feedback. She is able to tell you to what degree you are stressed and what type of stress this is – i.e if you are “tired” or “wired”! If one knows the degree of stress, it is a good starting point. Then one can work with simple stress management in one’s daily life, and if necessary, take it further.
